Description:
This
item is part of a deaccession I'm doing with a
local museum.
This is a
lovely wedding gown in ivory silk from c.1888. The
bodice has a pleated chest yoke and collar. The
collar has an overlay of ivory silk chiffon. Silk
chiffon is drapped along the chest yoke edge with
rosettes on the shoulders and at the center front.
Gathers down the center front bodice with lace
appliques on either side of the center front
folding back to lapels. Full skirt with outside
darts on either side of the center back and gathers
at the center back.
Condition: The
silk chiffon has tears. Edgewear on the sleeve
edges from being flattened. Water stains and the
beginning signs of shattering on the left upper and
under arm. Two pea size stains on the front lace. A
few light stains on the skirt with two large black
scuff marks on the lower back skirt. Hem is very
dirty. Waist band has shattering and slight weight
stress on the tops of the gathers below the
waistband. Overall, not as bad as it sounds.
Displays wonderfully.
