Description:
This
item is part of a deaccession I'm doing with a
local museum.
This is a skirt
in ivory silk that was for a very petite lady or
was altered for a later period. I think it's the
second, because the silk dates to before the turn
of the century. The gores fall in release pleats.
Narrow ruffle on the hemline. The skirt came with a
wedding bodice that dates to about 1888. I didn't
get a photo of the bodice, but it will be included
with the skirt. The bodice is also ivory silk , but
has a different weave. Double collar is trimmed in
pearls. Button front closures and pearls along the
bottom edge. Long, slender, set in sleeves. Pearls
and bow at wrists.
Label:
None
Condition: The
skirt has shattering just below the waistband. A
few light stains on the skirt. The bodice is mssing
the majority of silk from the sleeves and
shoulders. Tears on the silk body. Missing
pearls.
Size: Doesn't
matter
