Description:
This is an out of print, hard bound copy of "From
Hoopskirts to Nudity", by Carrie Hall, first
published in 1938 with the second printing in 1946.
The 240 page book "....is not intended for
consideration as a history of fashion, even of the
short period of time which it covers; rather, it is
a review of the more grotesque and outstanding of
the follies and foibles that Dame Fashion has
presented in the past seventy years-to show that
clothes, even of the most absurd fashion, may be a
vital part of life; that they react upon those who
wear them, for good or ill; and that there is hope
that in some not too far distant day we may be
"clothed and in our right minds," even if we are
not "the glass of fashion and the mold of
form"."
