Description:
This is a c.1885 wrapper in a paisley print ribbed
cotton. The fabric has a black background with a
blue, yellow and gold print. The dress has a small,
fold over collar trimmed with black silk. The
bodice portion of the wrapper has a full lining
with hook and eye closures. I think this is
probably a maternity wrapper because of the
fullness in the front. There is a hook and eye
closure that pulls the front tight, which really
isn't normal. This should have been more tailored.
Long, set in sleeves have a turned under finish.
Gored panels with fullness directed in the back for
the bustle.
