Description:
This is a c.1890 traveling dress in black puckered
wool and silk taffeta. The waist has a scrunch,
gathered collar with a tuxedo pleated front dickey
panel that ends in gathers at the center front
waistline. Lapel style border runs along the front
edges with slight fullness falling from the
shoulders to the center front. Hook and eye closure
up the front of the lining. Long, set in sleeves
are slender and fall to a slight poufs, pleated to
the wrist bands and taffeta cuffs. Gored skirt
falls from a narrow waistband with all fullness
directed to the inverted pleats at the center back.
Tiered silk taffeta ruffles edge the
hemline.

Great condition. One split in a fold of the pleated
front. Some of the pleating is out as well.
Edgewear along the bottom flounce.
