Description:
This is a c.1898 zuave style jacket waist in navy
blue velvet. The jacket has a v-neckline with a
spread collar trimmed in black lace. Ivory silk
taffeta lining and center front trimming edged in
gold bullion ribbon and embroidered lace. Wide
waistband with gathers pointing upward to the bust
for fullness. Flat peplum falls from beneath the
waistband with an inverted pleat at the center
back. Long, set in sleeves are gathered into
thearmcyes with fullness at the tops and tapering
to the wide lace trimmed cuffs.
