Description:
This is a c.1860 dress in brown and ivory stripe
silk brocade. The dress has a piped neckline with a
button closures down the front. The bodice is dart
fitted to the piped waistline. Long, set in sleeves
have dropped shoulders and curve to the turned
under finish at the wrists. Bell shaped skirt falls
from the waistline seam with gauging across the
back. Brown fringe trim decorates the skirt. Side
inset pockets. Fully lined in brown polished
cotton. A second bodice has brown crochet buttons
down the front and the same fringe across the front
and back.

Condition:
The sleeves have been removed from the second
bodice and there are underarm stains. The dress
bodice is missing the top three buttons. Has
underarm darkening. Minor fabric separation under
the waist seam. Scattered dot stains and pin holes,
but nothing awful.
