Description: This is a burgundy silk brocade gown dating to c.1865. The fabric has a small dot pattern. Rounded neckline with hook and eye closures down the center front. Small black v-shaped decorations made of a black silk covered button, three rows of ribbon with chenille dots on the ends and black lace along the bottom, adorn the center front bodice. Black velvet ribbons extend from beneath the center front and hook to the right side, under the sleeve. The bodice is dart fitted with three darts extending from either side of the center front waist up to the bust. Long, pagoda sleeves overlap on the outer arm and fall from dropped armcyes. Gathered ribbon borders the sleeve. The same black v-shaped adornments decorate the upper sleeves. Sleeves are lined in an ivory tissue silk. Wide waist yoke with the full skirt falling in pleats at the waist. Tiny watch pocket on the left front seam. The dress is fully lined in brown horsehair silk.
