Description: It's all about the color! This is a wonderful and rare bodice from c.1820 in red silk. The bodice has a boned, center front strip with gathers on both sides opening to the bust and up to the narrow shoulder seams. Wide, v-neckline with narrow tabs that cover the shoulder seams. Wide, waistband along the bottom. Large, puff ball sleeves are tightly gathered around the armcye and pleated into the narrow piped, sleeve band. A horsehair stiffening is used in the sleeves to help create the volume. Hooks fasten down the back and are all original.
