Description:
This is an incredibly rare find! Not many of these
fabulous bonnets exist any longer, especially the
ones made of such fine leghorn straw. The bonnet
dates to c. 1825, during the Romantic period. The
fine straw has a wire frame along the inside edge
of the large brim. The original ivory silk lining
is still somewhat intact. Remnants from the old
silk ribbon ties are still attached inside the
bonnet. The bonnet is not warped. For whatever
reason I hadn't put the wire back in shape when we
took the photos. It does look much better
now.

None
Condition:
The bonnets' lining has some thread bare places and
is separating from the front frame with a tear into
the top. There is a split between the rows of straw
at the back of the crown as seen in the photos and
one other on the side which is not bad. There are
chips on both the front corners in the
straw.
